Directions:
From U.S. 23 going north, take 460 and 40 East Exit and turn right. The Johnson Judicial Center is 3/10 mile on the right. If you are traveling south on U.S. 23 and take the 40 East Exit, turn left at the traffic light to U.S. 460 East. At the 40 and 460 intersection turn left and the Johnson Judicial Center is 3/10 mile on the right. If traveling east or west on 460 or 40, the Johnson Judicial Center is beside the Big Sandy Detention Center 3/10 mile east of the 40/460 intersection and 1/10 mile west of the 321/40 intersection.

Parking:
There is free parking. Drive Thru: For paying fines, picking up forms, or filing papers.

Closed for all state holidays; Check with office for hours on Election Day and Apple Festival (first Friday in October).

Information for Patrons with Special Needs:
Handicapped parking is on each side of the building. A handicap ramp is on the right side of the building and elevators are available.

Services:
The Office of the Circuit Court Clerk maintains the records for the Johnson Circuit/District/and Family Court. Circuit Court handles both Civil cases over $4,000, Appeals and Felony matters. Motion Hour for Circuit Court is the first and third Friday of each month. Civil Motions are at 9 a.m.  Arraignments/Motions/Sentences are at 10 a.m. Pretrial Conferences on Criminal cases are at 11 a.m. District Court handles both Civil matters up to $4,000, Evictions; Small Claims up to $1,500; Appeals; Juveniles with delinquent charges; Probates; Name Changes; Involuntary Hospitalizations/Disability Cases; Guardianship cases; Traffic, Misdemeanor; and Felony arraignments and Preliminary hearings. District Court is scheduled months in advance. Call the Office of the Circuit Court Clerk for Motion hours in District Court. Probates will be heard between 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. on Thursdays.

Family Court handles Divorces Adoption/Termination case, Juvenile with dependency, neglect or abuse, Paternity and Domestic Violence. Motion hours are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. Each Tuesday, Domestic Violence is at 9 a.m. and Juvenile is at 11 a.m. Other services of the Circuit Clerk's office: Posting of bonds during office hours, receiving fine payments, drivers license department for drivers license, permits, and CDL license. Computer terminals are available for the public to research records starting in October of 1988. A Case index from 1843 (Circuit Civil) is available.

Drivers License Information:
Driving tests are Monday and Tuesday at 8 a.m. You must be at the testing site on Second Street by 8 a.m. Motorcycle driving tests are on the last Tuesday of the month. Call 606-297-9567 for an appointment. Written permit, CDL or Haz-Mat tests are at 1 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. All written tests start at 1 p.m.

Other Information:
There is a play room for children in the Judicial Center. We do not have a Divorce Education Program, but if the Judge sees the need, he does referrals to the other counties that do have a Divorce Education Program.
