Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
The Probate Department processes pleadings and judicial orders that validate wills, appoint executors or administrators and settle estates. The department also handles estate cases, guardianship for individuals under age 17, trusts, curatorships, infant settlements under $10,000 and name changes for adults and children.

Legal Glossary |

Administrator/Administratrix. Person appointed by the court to act on behalf of an estate when no will exists.
Administrator with Annexed Will. Person appointed by the court to act on behalf of the estate when there is a will but they are not nominated to serve.
Certified. Stamp used by a clerk to authenticate a copy of court documents. It also has the state seal and can be presented in or out of state.
Conservator. Person appointed by the court to manage the financial resources of a minor child.
Curator. Person appointed by the court upon request of an individual who needs help managing the financial resources.
Executor/Executrix. Person nominated in a last will and testament to handle the estate of a deceased person.
Probate. Judicial determination of the validity of a will.
